It’s December! Are you ready?
One of my favorite traditions here at Buzbee Dental has nothing to do with teeth. Or our patients (whom we love) but it’s our annual Secret Santa. Each year all of the staff draw names and select one person to bestow gifts upon for the week leading up to our Christmas party. I always organize the game, and it’s so fun to watch everyone enjoying giving and receiving gifts, but also trying to figure out who has them… trying to throw people off the trail so they don’t get discovered as being “Santa”, or trying to figure out who EVERYONE has (here’s looking at you, Teresa!). Is there anything better than a couple of lottery tickets and a Starbuck’s gift card? Or a 12 pack of Diet Dr. Pepper and chocolate (my weaknesses!) waiting on my desk in the morning? I think not! So, if you see us walking around looking a little sneaky this week… maybe don’t say anything. You might blow our cover! ??
On the more serious side of things, one of the other reasons I enjoy December is because the spirit of giving is such a huge part of it. And, while all of our doctors are generous all year long with donations and treatment (among other things), they always make a point to help out a little bit more during the holidays. For as long as I can remember, Dr. Gary has always helped a patient with his “Share Your Christmas” by choosing a patient in great need to help with their dental issues, and get their smile back. He doesn’t do it for the recognition or even tell anyone he’s doing it. It’s just part of the giving spirit of the season. (It’s also one of the many reasons we jokingly call him Give-Give-Gary around the office!). For those of us who cannot bless someone with the gift of dentistry… We are able to bless others with an actual smile. Remember that even the small act of paying someone a compliment, offering a stranger a smile, letting someone go ahead of you in line, holding the door, even being patient in traffic are all small ways you can spread the love and cheer this holiday season.
