Occlusal Analysis
T-Scan
We have added the T-Scan Occlusal Analysis System to our practice. The T-Scan is a reliable and easy-to-use clinical diagnostic device that senses and analyzes occlusal contact (biting) forces using paper-thin, disposable sensors. This aids Dr. Todd in the diagnostic process of analyzing your bite and showing what is and what is not functioning properly. In other words, The T-Scan helps us see what’s really happening as the forces of your teeth come together in your mouth.
This is crucial, as the improper function and imbalance of your teeth can cause:
- Jaw pain
- Fractures
- Nighttime grinding
- Increased headaches
- Neck pain
- Tooth-wear and sensitivity
- Gum disease
- Tooth loss
- Lead to TMJ Disorder.

How it works
The heart of the T-Scan technology is a disposable, extremely thin, flexible sensor. The analysis is very easy and painless. By simply biting and chewing against the sensor, a three-dimensional view of your bite is displayed on our computer screen allowing us to immediately visualize problem areas.
The T-Scan records occlusal(bite) force, timing, and location. This enables Dr. Todd to determine your bite dynamics and gives us the information we need to easily determine and restore the perfect balance of your bite.
Once the malocclusion has been mapped out, a plan for long-term stabilization may then include adjusting the bite through DTR Therapy, repositioning the teeth through orthodontics or the rebuilding the teeth through restorations like crowns or onlays.
